Amanda Charchian is less a conventional photographer, more a multi-disciplinary artist. In 2010, she earned a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design with a focus on painting and sculpture.

“I spend a lot of time at galleries, museums, and auctions,” she says. In 2018 she exhibited a body of work entitled 7 Types Of Love which presents meditations on love inspired by Canadian psychologist John Allen and Greek myth.

Another collection, first exhibited with Huxley-Parlour gallery, combines her background in painting, and an interest in architecture, with contemporary nude studies in black and white. “Both love and femininity are avenues through which I see the world.”

A truly multi-faceted artist, Amanda imagined the visual world of Idle Hour, a perfume by French boutique brand Ex Nihilo. She has worked on still and film projects with a range of other brands, including Gucci, Cartier and Apple, as well as musicians such as Billie Eilish, Travis Scott and Alicia Keys. She approaches personal and commercial work with the same curiosity, but the execution is different.

“In my personal art work there tends to be a more spiritual undertone, a search for mystery,” she says. “Advertising doesn’t tend to leave questions unanswered.”
