Photographer & Director based in Paris
Timothy Schaumburg is a photographer whose work bridges the worlds of fashion and storytelling. Based internationally, his practice creates narratives that capture the tension between characters and light. Drawing inspiration from nature, friends, music, pop culture, youth, and cinema, his images combine honesty with a distinct conceptual sensibility. “The aim of my photography is always to reflect a certain realness, honesty, or truth - something that comes from the trust between the model, the team, and the story we’re telling together,” he says.
Timothy gained renown through a series of fictional-documentary projects, including MORGEN, shot in Namibia with a local skate crew. “They were the most welcoming crew ever,” he recalls - the experience still resonates strongly with him. His approach often hovers between documentation and fiction, but he is equally at home exploring the structural beauty of garments and the stories behind brands.
He has worked with everyone from Valentino and Adidas to Apple and Levi’s and his projects have been published by the likes of Dazed, T-Magazine and 032c. His influences are eclectic: 2Pac in the shower by David LaChapelle remains one of his favourite images, while the philosophical outlook of Werner Herzog continues to shape his creative thinking. “As much as I love working in the tension between documentation and fiction, I also enjoy exploring pure aesthetics,” he says.
