• Mahotas The following series of photographs illuminates both the resilience of patients accessing mental health services and the strain placed on service providers in a resource poor setting.
• The first section of this series focuses on residents of the Mahotas Psychiatric Hospital; an inpatient hospital located on the outskirts of the Mozambican capital of Maputo.
• The second section shifts focus to the narratives and perspectives of 16 Mozambican mental health providers.
• As a collection of fine art portraits, and reportage images, this collection of photographs deepens our awareness of the challenges associated with mental health in Mozambique while celebrating the triumph and resilience of both clinicians and patients in the face of overwhelming obstacles.
