Sharif is a British-born photographer and director working across print, digital, and film. He has gained recognition for his vibrant compositions and innovative use of light and movement.
His commercial work includes campaigns for Tiffany & Co., Clinique, Ralph Lauren, Omega, and Longines, as well as global launches for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro. Editorially, he has contributed to numerous international editions of Vogue, GQ and Elle and currently serves as Creative Director of Vogue Philippines, which he describes as a love letter to his motherland.
Based between New York and London, Sharif considers himself, at heart, a portrait photographer working within fashion. He is known for raw, journalistic projects, including his 2018 portraits of young gun owners published in The New Yorker, as well as portraiture for The New York Times Magazine. His ongoing series on young boxers, RingDreamz (working title), is a forthcoming personal book and documentary short film. His work is held in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London. Sharif is deeply fascinated by faces and the stories they carry. His images often center and empower men and women of color, informed by a personal drive to reflect his daughters’ mixed heritage. Through his work, he brings visibility to those on the margins, elevating their presence with dignity and clarity. “I have a duty to make them seen by everyone in the most beautiful way.” Whether in fashion or documentary contexts, his enduring subject is people.
